Air Filters
127 itemsAir filters for air handling units, industry and residential ventilation: bag filters, compact filters, panel filters, HEPA and ULPA filters, activated carbon filters, filter media and holding frames from AFPRO Filters, plus original replacement filters for ventilation units from S&P, Blauberg, Nilan and InoxAir. Most series are available in many sizes as variants.
Which air filter fits? The filter types
Bag filters and compact filters
Bag filters offer a large filter area thanks to many pockets and are mostly used as fine filters in the supply and extract air of air handling units, for example the AFPRO HQ85 or the rigid bag filters AFPRO PFL/PXL. Compact filters with pleated media need less depth, such as the AFPRO HPQ or the CPMC panels with metal frame. All models are listed under Bag and Compact Filters.
Panel filters and filter media
Flat panel filters are often used as pre-filters, for example AFPRO APKK with plastic frame or AFPRO AERO. For your own frames and filter walls there are synthetic filter media as cut pieces or rolls.
HEPA and ULPA filters
HEPA filters to EN 1822 are used in cleanrooms, laboratories, operating areas and asbestos removal, for example the AFPRO HPM series (E10 to U15, turbulent flow), the HLA series with aluminium frame and the HLM series with MDF frame. Matching frames are available as HEPA holding frames.
Activated carbon filters
Activated carbon panels, carbon cylinders and the combination filter HPQ-AK remove odours and gaseous substances. For kitchen exhaust air there is the InoxAir activated carbon box. The guide activated carbon filters against odours explains when carbon makes sense.
Replacement filters for ventilation units
Original replacement filters are available for S&P CADB-HE and CADT-HE and CAIT, for Blauberg VENTO and for Nilan units such as the Nilan pollen filter F7. For commercial kitchens there are flame protection filters for extraction hoods.
Filter classes: ISO 16890 and EN 1822
Since 2018, coarse and fine dust filters have been classified to ISO 16890. The group depends on particle size: ePM1 (particles up to 1 µm), ePM2.5, ePM10 and ISO Coarse for coarse dust. The percentage states the efficiency; a filter in the ePM1 group retains at least 50 % of these particles. The old classes G1 to F9 to EN 779 cannot be converted exactly. A commonly quoted guide: G4 roughly corresponds to ISO Coarse 60 to 90 %, M5 to ePM10 50 %, F7 to ePM1 50 to 65 % and F9 to ePM1 80 % or more. The manufacturer's specification is decisive. HEPA filters are classified to EN 1822 as E10 to E12 (EPA), H13 and H14 (HEPA) and U15 to U17 (ULPA). More in the guide filter classes for ventilation systems.
Selection in three steps
- Check the size: width x height x depth in mm, for bag filters also the number of pockets.
- Define the filter class: according to the unit manufacturer, for air handling units according to the design, often a pre-filter (ISO Coarse or ePM10) and a fine filter (ePM1).
- Choose frame and gasket: plastic, metal or cardboard, with or without gasket, matching the filter frame of the unit.
Frequently asked questions about air filters
Which filter class do I need for my ventilation system?
This is specified by the unit manufacturer or the design. Residential ventilation units often use extract filters of class ISO Coarse or ePM10 and outdoor air filters up to ePM1. ePM1 filters are useful against pollen and fine dust, see the guide what ePM1 filters achieve.
When do I need to change the air filter?
According to the manufacturer or when the final pressure drop is reached. For air handling systems, VDI 6022 sets maximum intervals, for example at the latest after twelve months for the first filter stage. A filter monitor such as the S&P FUA shows when a change is due.
What do ePM1, ePM10 and ISO Coarse mean?
These are the groups to ISO 16890. ePM1 stands for particles up to 1 µm, ePM10 for particles up to 10 µm, ISO Coarse for coarse dust. The percentage states the efficiency.
What is the difference between E12, H13, H14 and U15?
These are EN 1822 classes for HEPA filters. E10 to E12 are called EPA, H13 and H14 HEPA, U15 to U17 ULPA. The higher the class, the higher the efficiency for the most penetrating particle size.
How should I store replacement filters?
Dry, clean and in the original packaging, without pressure on the filter media. Tips in the guide storing air filters correctly.
