Air curtains

An air curtain produces a directed airflow above an open door that separates indoor air from outdoor air. Warm air stays inside the building and cold air is kept out, and for air-conditioned spaces or cold rooms the principle works the other way round. According to Frico, the air barrier also keeps out insects, dust and odours. In this category you will find Frico air curtains for kiosks, shop entrances, commercial premises and large industrial doors.

Choosing by door height and installation type

Each series has a recommended installation height that should match the door height. PA1508 is designed for serving hatches and counter windows, Pamir 2500, PA2200C and ADA for smaller entrances. Pamir PAFEC covers installation heights from 3.5 to 5 m, while Tatra is intended for large doors in logistics and warehouses. For recessed or flush ceiling installation there are AR and Arden, where only the underside remains visible. The unit length depends on the door width.

Without heating, electric or water

• Without heating: for air-conditioned areas, cold rooms and freezer rooms, for example ADA, PAEC or PAECS
• Electric heating: independent of the heating system, with a 400 V supply on Pamir and Arden
• Water heating: connection to the heating system, on Pamir also with coils for lower water temperatures

Frequently asked questions about air curtains

Does an air curtain replace a heater?

No, the air curtain mainly protects the entrance area. For heating halls or workshops, fan heaters are one suitable option.

How wide does the air curtain need to be?

The airflow should cover the full door width. For wide openings several units are mounted side by side, and with Tatra also on both sides of the opening.

Can an air curtain be mounted vertically?

Some series allow it, such as Pamir PAFEC and Tatra. Other series are designed for horizontal or recessed installation.
