Ventilation

734 items

Ventilation technology for flats, houses, commercial buildings and commercial kitchens: ventilation units with heat recovery, fans, air filters, ducts and fittings, heater batteries, fire protection and accessories from Blauberg, S&P, Nilan, InoxAir, Fischbach and AFPRO. On this page you will find a selection guide by application, an overview of the most important standards and answers to frequently asked questions.

Choosing ventilation by application

Flats and single-family houses

For individual rooms or retrofits in existing buildings, decentralised ventilation units with heat recovery are installed directly in the external wall, for example Blauberg VENTO Expert, VENTO inHome as a complete set, Blauberg Freshpoint or the wall-mounted Freshbox WiFi. Central units supply the whole flat through a duct network, such as Nilan Comfort, Blauberg KOMFORT Ultra or Blauberg Reneo D. All units are listed under Ventilation Systems; the guide central vs. decentralised ventilation compares both systems.

Bathroom, WC and kitchen

For internal bathrooms and toilets without windows there are single-duct exhaust systems to DIN 18017-3, for example Blauberg Valeo2 with flush-mounted housing or the S&P ERL fan insert. For rooms with an external wall or a short duct run, small room fans such as S&P SILENT, S&P ECOAIR or Blauberg Smart are suitable. The guide ventilating a bathroom without a window explains what to consider.

Commercial and industrial

For duct networks and halls there are fans of many designs: inline duct fans such as S&P TD and S&P JETLINE, axial fans such as S&P HXTR, acoustic ventilation boxes such as S&P CAB and roof fans such as S&P CTB. Heat recovery units for offices and schools include the S&P CADB/T-HE PRO-REG and the Nilan Comfort 1200. The guide choosing a centrifugal fan helps with selection.

Catering and commercial kitchens

Stainless steel extraction hoods, kitchen exhaust boxes and exhaust air cleaning are listed under Kitchen Exhaust, fans for hot kitchen exhaust air under Fire Gas Fans. The guide planning a commercial kitchen gives an overview.

Standards at a glance

For residential ventilation, DIN 1946-6 describes when a ventilation concept is required and how much air a dwelling needs (guide ventilation concept to DIN 1946-6). Exhaust ventilation of bathrooms and toilets without external windows is covered by DIN 18017-3. Air filters are classified to ISO 16890 (ePM1, ePM2.5, ePM10, ISO Coarse) and HEPA filters to EN 1822 (E10 to U17). VDI 6022 covers hygiene in air handling systems, DIN EN 16282 and VDI 2052 cover kitchen ventilation. Where ducts pass through fire-rated walls or ceilings, the regional ventilation system guidelines apply. Planners or installers clarify which rule applies in each case.

Frequently asked questions about ventilation

Central or decentralised ventilation: which suits me?

Decentralised units are installed room by room in the external wall and need no duct network, which often makes them easier to retrofit. Central units supply all rooms through ducts and make sense when these can be planned in a new build or renovation. The guide central vs. decentralised ventilation compares both systems.

How much air does a flat need?

That depends on floor area, occupancy and use. As a rough guide, multiply the room volume by the air change rate or allow about 30 m³/h per person. The guide calculating air flow shows the calculation. Compare the demand with the unit's air flow in heat recovery mode.

How often do ventilation filters need changing?

The unit manufacturer's instructions and the filter's pressure drop are decisive. For air handling systems, VDI 6022 sets maximum intervals, for example at the latest after twelve months for the first filter stage. See the guide ventilation maintenance plan.

When do I need fire protection in ventilation?

When ducts pass through fire-rated walls or ceilings, for example between flats or storeys. For single-room fans in internal bathrooms there are flush-mounted housings with fire protection. More in the guide fire dampers in ventilation systems.
