Underfloor Heating

9 items

Underfloor heating distributes heat over a large floor area and therefore works with low flow temperatures. This suits heat pumps and condensing boilers well. In this category you will find components for new builds and renovation projects: from insulation and system boards to distribution in the plant room.

Dry construction system from Nordic Fos

Nordic Fos supplies XPS 500 underfloor heating boards with aluminium foil for heating pipes of 12, 16 and 20 mm, as well as boards for electric heating cables. The range also includes XPS insulation boards as a base layer, impact sound insulation with moisture barrier, primer, assembly adhesive and parquet adhesive, plus a router bit for cutting additional pipe grooves on site. This method is particularly suitable where only a low installation height is available.

Distribution and control with FAR

On the hydraulic side, FAR offers a pre-assembled manifold with flow meters for 3 to 10 heating circuits, as well as heating circuit sets with mixing valve and actuator or with fixed-value thermostatic mixer, each with a high-efficiency pump. The flow meters make it easier to adjust the individual circuits. A heating circuit set with mixing valve lowers the boiler temperature to the level the surface heating needs, so it is also suitable when radiators and underfloor heating run from the same heat source. Further valves and mixers are listed under Heating Fittings and in the FAR range.

Frequently asked questions about underfloor heating

How many heating circuits do I need?

That depends on room size, pipe length and layout. The number of circuits follows from the heat load calculation; the FAR manifold is available for 3 to 10 circuits.

Does underfloor heating need hydraulic balancing?

Yes, it is the only way to give each room the right amount of water. Background is provided in our article Hydraulic balancing.

Which flow temperature makes sense?

As low as possible while the rooms still get warm. Tips are given in Lowering the flow temperature.
