Leak protection and water sensors help to detect water damage in the home at an early stage and to shut off the water supply automatically in the event of a leak. In this category you will find retrofit systems that work on the existing installation: monitors and sensors monitor the pipe network, retrofit motors close the existing main shut-off valve, floor water detectors report escaping water.

A typical system consists of three components. A monitor is connected to the domestic water pipe and evaluates pressure, temperature and, depending on the version, consumption. A retrofit motor is fitted to a ball valve or an angle seat or KFR valve without cutting the pipe. Wireless water detectors are placed where leaking water appears first, for example next to the washing machine, dishwasher or hot water tank. In addition there are clamp-on flow sensors, pressure sensors for drinking water and heating, and rain gauges for irrigation and heavy rain warnings.

Depending on the version, the devices communicate via Wi-Fi with an app, directly with each other via LoRa, via a LoRaWAN network, via Z-Wave or via a potential-free switch contact. Complete kits for ball valves and KFR valves contain matched components, the offline kit works entirely without app and internet. Which version suits your installation depends on the existing shut-off valve, the radio network at the installation site and the desired smart home connection. Frequently asked questions

Does the water pipe have to be opened for installation?
No. The retrofit motors are fitted to the existing valve, flow and pipe sensors are clamped onto the outside. The monitor is screwed into an existing inspection port or mounted at the angle valve with a tee.

Which motor fits my shut-off valve?
For ball valves with lever handle there is the ball valve motor, for angle seat and KFR valves the KFR motor, each for DN15 to DN32. The manufacturer offers adapters for special designs.

Does leak protection also work without Wi-Fi?
Yes, with devices in the LoRa Direct version. Wireless water detectors then report directly to the motor, which closes the valve. The app, consumption data and notifications on the smartphone, on the other hand, require Wi-Fi or a LoRaWAN network.
