Drainage systems

5 items

Drainage products for ventilation, air conditioning and catering: siphons and odour traps for the condensate drain of ventilation units, condensate drains for stainless steel duct systems, a heating cable against freezing and siphons for sinks, from Nilan, S&P and InoxAir.

Siphon for the condensate drain

During heat recovery, condensate forms in the ventilation unit and is drained away. A siphon prevents air from being drawn into the unit. According to the manufacturer, the Nilan siphon has a ball that keeps it sealed even when the siphon dries out in summer without condensate. For S&P units there is the S&P SIPHON odour trap, also as SIPHON SF-P-400-PR. If the drain is in a cold area, the Nilan heating cable in the condensate drain protects against freezing.

Condensate drain for stainless steel duct systems

The InoxAir bottom condensate drain (type 061) with 3/4 inch connection is intended for InoxAir double-walled (DW) and single-walled (EW) stainless steel duct systems.

Drains for sinks in catering

According to InoxAir, the InoxAir ready-made siphon drain in white plastic with DN 40 connection fits the sink centres and sink cabinets of the ECOline range, for 1 or 2 basins.

Further components for ventilation systems are listed under Ventilation, piping systems for drinking water and heating under Piping Systems.

Frequently asked questions about siphons and condensate drains

Why does a ventilation unit need a siphon?

Ventilation units work with negative or positive pressure. Without a siphon, air would be drawn in or blown out through the condensate drain, the condensate could not drain properly and odours could enter.

What happens if the siphon dries out in summer?

A siphon without water seal leaks. A siphon with a ball such as the Nilan siphon closes the drain even without water.
