AFPRO filters by design

Bag filters

Bag filters have many filter pockets and therefore a large filter area. They are mostly used as fine filters in the supply and extract air of air handling units. The range includes the series AFPRO HQ55, HQ65, HQ85, HQ98 and the HSB and HS series. Matching frames are available as bag filter holding frames.

Compact filters

Compact filters contain a pleated filter medium in a rigid frame and need little installation depth. They include the AFPRO HPQ compact filters, the CS85/CS98 compact filters and the CP and CPMC series. An overview of all bag and compact filters is available under bag and compact filters.

Panel filters

Panel filters are flat filters with a cardboard, plastic or metal frame and are often used as pre-filters. The AFPRO APKK panels have a synthetic filter medium in a plastic frame; according to the catalogue the standard sizes are ISO Coarse 70% and 25, 48 or 96 mm deep. Further series are AERO, APMC, GP, MP, FP and AQUA.

HEPA filters and activated carbon

HEPA filters such as the AFPRO HEPA HLA series or the HPM series are classified to EN 1822 into classes such as E12, H13, H14 and U15. For odours and gases there are activated carbon panels, activated carbon cylinders and the HPQ-AK activated carbon compact filter.

Filter classes: ISO 16890 and EN 1822

AFPRO classifies coarse and fine dust filters to ISO 16890. A filter in group ePM1 retains at least 50% of particles from 0.3 to 1 micrometre; ePM2.5 and ePM10 apply accordingly to larger particles. If a filter reaches less than 50% for ePM10, it belongs to group ISO Coarse. The percentage is rounded down in steps of 5, so a filter with ePM1 60% captures at least 60% of particles below 1 micrometre.

High efficiency filters are classified by EN 1822:2019. According to the AFPRO catalogue, the integral efficiency is 99.5% for E12, 99.95% for H13, 99.995% for H14 and 99.9995% for U15. You can read more about old and new class designations such as M5, F7 and F9 in the guide filter classes for ventilation systems and in what ePM1 filters really achieve.

How to find the right AFPRO filter

Measure the installed filter or read its label. The size is given as width x height x depth in mm; for bag filters the number and length of the pockets are added. Then choose the filter class specified by the unit manufacturer or the ventilation design. When a filter change is due depends on the pressure drop and the manufacturer's information; the maintenance plan for ventilation systems gives an overview.

Frequently asked questions about AFPRO filters

Which filter class do I need?

The requirements of the unit manufacturer or the ventilation design are decisive. The class used so far is usually printed on the label of the installed filter; old designations to EN 779 can be assigned to the ISO 16890 groups using the guide to filter classes.

What does a size such as 592x592x48 mean?

The first two numbers are the width and height of the frame in mm, the third number is the depth. Always check the installation size of your filter frame before ordering.

Are AFPRO filters available in special sizes?

Yes, for several series such as APKK or AERO numerous special sizes can be selected as variants in addition to the standard sizes. If you cannot find your size, write to us using the contact form.
