Description
Description
Nilan Elektrovorheizregister (electric pre-heater) is an electric frost protection pre-heater for the outdoor air duct before a Nilan ventilation unit. According to the manufacturer, counterflow heat exchangers with high thermal efficiency can ice up in frost periods; during defrosting, heat recovery is only possible to a limited extent and the supply air temperature can drop. The pre-heater warms the outdoor air enough to prevent icing.
The heater uses step control and is installed with a temperature sensor in the outdoor air duct before the ventilation unit.

Features
Features
- Required output according to Nilan: temperature difference (K) x 0.34 x airflow (m³/h) = W. Example: frost protection down to -15 °C at 126 m³/h gives 15 x 0.34 x 126 = 642 W; the heater must therefore deliver at least 643 W.
- According to the manufacturer, no special maintenance is required; once a year, check that the power connection is in order.
- The pre-heater is only intended for preheating clean air. Nilan recommends reducing the airflow during periods of severe frost so that the humidity in the house does not drop too much.
Note on variants
Note on variants
Select the variant according to unit, duct size and output. Technical data of the Nilan pre-heaters according to the data sheet:
| Duct | Output | Fuse | Supply voltage | Min. airflow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ø 125 mm | 0.6 kW | 2.8 A | 230 V, 50 Hz | 70 m³/h |
| Ø 125 mm | 0.9 kW | 4.1 A | 230 V, 50 Hz | 70 m³/h |
| Ø 125 mm | 1.2 kW | 5.5 A | 230 V, 50 Hz | 70 m³/h |
| Ø 160 mm | 1.2 kW | 5.5 A | 230 V, 50 Hz | 110 m³/h |
| Ø 160 mm | 2.0 kW | 9.1 A | 230 V, 50 Hz | 110 m³/h |
| Ø 200 mm | 2.4 kW | 10.9 A | 230 V, 50 Hz | 170 m³/h |
| 800 x 500 mm | 21.0 kW | 30.4 A | 3 x 400 V, 50 Hz | 415 m³/h |
The variant "Compact Serie, 600 W, Ø160 mm" is not listed as a separate version in the current Nilan data sheet (there, 600 W is only available with Ø 125 mm). The variants "Comfort 450 / 600 bis 2400 W, Ø200 mm" and "Comfort 450 bis 2400 W, Ø200 mm" have the same duct size and output according to their names, but different article numbers.
Installation notes
Installation notes
According to Nilan, a minimum distance of 15 cm must be kept between the electric heater and combustible materials; the heater must be insulated with flame-retardant material, and the cover of the terminal box must not be insulated. According to the installation instructions, the temperature sensor of the heater must be placed at least 32 cm after the pre-heater.
