When you move out, you simply take the device with you. The compromise: The window must remain slightly open during operation, which costs some performance at very high outdoor temperatures.

The situation is different for permanently installed split systems: Because you have to drill through the facade for them, this is a structural change and requires the landlord's written consent.

As a rule of thumb: check filters every 3 to 6 months and replace them depending on how dirty they are, but no later than after 12 months. In environments with high dust or pollen levels, more frequent replacement can make sense. Dirty filters reduce air quality, increase energy consumption and strain the system.
