Description

The fothermo 1 kW solar heating rod ROD-1000 is screwed into a suitable hot water tank with a G 1½ connection and heats the water with direct current straight from PV modules, without an inverter and without a 230 V grid connection for heating operation. An integrated MPP tracker controls the heating power continuously up to 1,000 W. Water temperature and power are shown on the digital display. The solar heating rod relieves the existing gas, oil or pellet heating or heat pump in domestic hot water preparation; when the sun is not shining, the existing heating system takes over.

Features

  • Retrofit into existing tanks with G 1½ socket (6/4 inch), immersion depth 295 mm
  • Continuously variable heating power from 0 to 1,000 W, recommended for 1,500 to 2,500 Wp PV power
  • Digital display for power and temperature, water temperature adjustable from 5 to 65 °C
  • Surplus output: after reaching the set maximum temperature it switches over to a further solar heating rod or a compatible micro PV inverter
  • Supplied with two pairs of solar connectors

Scope of delivery

  • 1 × solar heating rod ROD-1000
  • Safety and quick guide
  • Quick installation guide
  • Crimping instructions and PV warning label
  • 2 × pairs of solar connectors

Also required

  • PV modules, suitable hot water tank with G 1½ connection
  • Solar cables and parallel connectors
  • Optional devices for surplus use separately

Notes

  • The achievable heating power depends on the MPP voltage of the modules. For 1,000 W, modules with 38 to 43 V Vmpp are required.
  • Connect PV modules in parallel only, max. 50 V open circuit voltage. Extension at least 6 mm², max. 25 m distance according to the instructions.
  • Check installation space, G 1½ connection and immersion depth on the tank beforehand. The heating rod is installed horizontally.
  • Fill the tank completely before connecting the PV modules, do not operate the heating rod dry. Ensure earthing and protective devices.
  • During heating, PV power above the usable heating power is curtailed. The PV power is not split between heating rod and inverter at the same time. For feed-in, only use micro PV inverters from the manufacturer's whitelist.
  • Technical data according to the manufacturer fothermo. The operating instructions are authoritative.

Note: Mounting, water and electrical connection by a qualified installer. On request our experienced installation partners take care of mounting, installation and maintenance at the customer site.
