Description
Description
The AFPRO HEPA HPA Series comprises particulate air filters from AFPRO Filters in laminar flow design (type code HPA according to the article number scheme, catalogue 2026, p. 89). The catalogue lists HPA in the series HPA-E, HPA-Q and HPA-L with glass fibre paper as the filter medium in an extruded aluminium frame. According to the manufacturer, laminar flow filters are used in cleanrooms where high air quality is essential; they have a lower throughput than turbulent flow filters (catalogue p. 75).
All HPA filters are available in several versions: filter classes E10, E11, E12, H13, H14 and ePM1 80%, frame depths from 30 to 150 mm and several versions (gasket). The class ePM1 80% is a class according to ISO 16890 and not a particulate air filter class according to EN 1822. For sizes and versions without a catalogue table, class and dimensions are taken from our article data.

Features
Features
- According to EN 1822, group E (EPA) includes the classes E10, E11 and E12 and group H (HEPA) the classes H13 and H14. Minimum efficiency (integral value at MPPS) according to catalogue p. 27: E10 at least 85%, E11 at least 95%, E12 at least 99.5%, H13 at least 99.95%, H14 at least 99.995%.
- According to ISO 16890, the class ePM1 80% states the efficiency for particles from 0.3 to 1 µm; according to catalogue p. 19, the percentage is rounded down to 5%. This class is not a particulate air filter class according to EN 1822.
- According to the manufacturer, high-efficiency air filters are used, for example, in hospitals, the nuclear industry, the food industry and the semiconductor sector (catalogue p. 75).
- According to the catalogue, the airflow is limited to 125% of the nominal value. At a higher airflow, filters may fall into a lower class.
- The catalogue tables of the HPA series contain performance data only for H13 and H14; the catalogue gives no performance data for the class E10.
Note on variants
Note on variants
Select the dimension, the filter class and the version. The dimension is given in mm (width x height x depth). The version corresponds to the first digits of the article number according to the article number scheme of the AFPRO HEPA filters (catalogue p. 79 and 89): type, digit 2 spacers (1 hot-melt, 2 aluminium), digit 3 gasket; followed by filter class, grid, height, width and frame depth. Codes that the scheme does not explain are given as a code; the catalogue does not explain suffixes such as HT or ES. If no grid is named in the version, the variant has a protective grid on both sides. According to the scheme (p. 89), the last letter of the article number stands for the frame depth, for example E = 68 mm, G = 80 mm, I = 90 mm, Q = 110 mm, L = 150 mm; for special sizes, the dimensions are given directly in the article number. Where the catalogue gives performance data for a variant, they are shown with the variant selection; the catalogue gives no performance data for the other variants.
| Frame depth (mm) | Series | Filter area (m²) | Nominal airflow (m³/h) | Initial pressure drop H13 (Pa) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 68 | HPA-E | 11.1 | 900 | 185 |
| 110 | HPA-Q | 17.7 | 2000 | 250 |
| 150 | HPA-L | 17.7 | 2250 | 250 |
| Frame depth (mm) | Series | Filter area (m²) | Nominal airflow (m³/h) | Initial pressure drop H14 (Pa) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 68 | HPA-E | 11.1 | 900 | 195 |
| 110 | HPA-Q | 17.7 | 2000 | 280 |
| 150 | HPA-L | 17.7 | 2250 | 280 |
Example frame size 610x610 mm, values according to the AFPRO catalogue 2026, pp. 102 to 105.
Installation notes
Installation notes
- Do not touch the filter medium, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Every high-efficiency air filter must be validated after installation to check that it is seated correctly.
- During installation, make sure that the frame and filter are clean and that the gaskets are intact.
- Document the filter installation by recording the date, type and initial resistance.
Information according to the AFPRO catalogue 2026, p. 142. Please check the installation dimensions of your filter frame before ordering.
